Borrowing / Renewing Materials

Graduate students can have 300 items checked out at one time, and have a 180 day loan period renewable five times unless requested by another borrower (videos loan for 14 days).
View & renew items checked out from the UConn Library by logging in to your UConn Library Account
View & renew Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) items by logging in to your MyILLiad account.

Interlibrary Services
Request items – articles, books, books chapters, DVDs, etc. – from UConn’s collection and other libraries and institutions when not available in UConn’s collection.
Use Scan on Demand to request electronic delivery of chapters and articles from print resources owned by the UConn Library.

Remote / Off Campus Access
Your NetID provides access to UConn’s licensed resources when you are off-campus. When a resource requires authentication, you will be asked to log in with your NetID. For help with your NetID, visit http://netid.uconn.edu.

Theses & Dissertations
Refer to the Registrar’s Steps to a Successful Graduation for formatting and submission information. Theses and dissertations are accessed from the Library digital repository.

The Library does not provide bound copies for academic departments or personal use. Binding vendors

Services for Students with Disabilities

Printing & Scanning
Black & white and color printers are available in the libraries and across campus.
Black & white and color scanning is a free service available at all campus libraries. Send files directly to email or a USB.

Subject Specialist Librarians and Archivists are available for research consultations; to provide instruction and support in the use of library resources; and as the first point of contact for all library-related inquiries.

Citation Managers
Citation management tools help organize citations to sources, collect digital files such as full text PDFs, and cite sources automatically when writing papers.

Open Educational Resources (OER)
Incorporating OER into coursework increases student learning by providing immediate access to high-quality customizable learning materials at no- or low-cost to students.

Course Reserves
Place personal or library materials on reserve for classes you are teaching.

Scholarly Communication
Information on fair use & copyright, author rights, and open access publishing.

Teaching & Learning Services
Includes tips for incorporating information literacy in assignments and ideas for alternative assignments to build students’ research skills.

Greenhouse Studios
A transdisciplinary research unit employing design thinking methodology and a
collaboration-first workflow to digital and analog projects.

Instruction Spaces
Our Libraries offer traditional and flexible rooms to supplement your regular classroom space.

Research Carrels
Graduate students working on research projects requiring extensive use of library materials can apply for a research carrel in the Babbidge Library.

Study & Collaboration Spaces

Graduate Commons
Located on Level 3 at the Babbidge Library, the Commons is accessible only to graduate students using their One Card. This room provides a dedicated study and collaboration space and features tables and chairs for group and individual work, a whiteboard, and computer workstations.
