Proxy Patron Program
Current UConn faculty and staff may employ current students (both graduate and undergraduate) to serve as research assistants. Duties of these research assistants may include locating items in the library and subsequently checking them out on behalf of the employer (a.k.a. the Proxy Grantor.) These students are registered as Proxy Patrons at the iDesk. Other current staff or faculty may also be registered as Proxy Patrons. A Proxy Patron must be a current UConn student or employee. Community Borrowers, including non-student, non-employee spouses of UConn faculty and staff, may not be Proxy Patrons.
Any items checked out of the library by a Proxy Patron on behalf of the Proxy Grantor will be checked out to the Proxy Grantor’s account. The Proxy Patron must show iDesk staff their own UConn photo ID (Husky One Card) when registering as a Proxy Patron and when checking out items.
Use the Proxy Borrower Permission form in order to set up privileges as a Proxy Patron. The Proxy Grantor must sign the form for it to be valid. The form must be brought to the iDesk by the Proxy Patron or the Proxy Grantor for processing.
