The UConn Library, located on the ground level of Hartford Public Library, provides faculty, staff, and students at the UConn Hartford Campus with the power of a top 20 research institution combined with one of the premier public libraries in the country through an academic and public library partnership. The library includes research help, workshops and public programs, UConn Library collections, collaborative and individual focused spaces, and UConn Hartford classrooms within a dynamic and engaging environment. Through this partnership, UConn faculty, staff, and students, as well as Hartford Public Library community members (Hartford residents only), can borrow physical materials between both libraries, further expanding the range of collections available in support of research to our community.

Access to UConn Hartford spaces on the ground level requires a UConn ID or a UConn Community Borrower card. Please view UConn Library’s Community Borrower Policy for details. Collections

The UConn Library at Hartford Public Library serves the programs of the UConn Hartford Campus graduate students working towards degrees in business, education, public policy, and social work and a wide range of undergraduate programs. The UConn Library at Hartford Public Library collections include materials focused on Social Work, Public Policy, Education, and select areas within business, sciences, social sciences, and humanities. In addition to our physical collections, users have access to electronic resources for a broader range of general and subject specific databases, journals, eBooks, and streaming media. Due to licensing restrictions, UConn Library electronic resources may be restricted for use by current UConn faculty, staff, and students and details on licensing are provided in the description for each UConn e-resource. One guest computer with access to select resources provided by the UConn Library is available to community members on a first come, first served basis for 1 hour.

 

Public Programs and Workshops

The UConn Library at Hartford Public Library offers a number of public programs and workshops in collaboration with the Hartford Public Library, the UConn Hartford Campus, the UConn Library and other groups/organizations. With over 300 programs offered annual at the Hartford Public Library some in collaboration with UConn Hartford there's a wide range of programming to engage our users. Programs range from data salons, workshops, author talks, community forums, musical performances including the popular Baby Grand Jazz series (January - April), games, and more.

 

Research Help

The UConn Library at Hartford Public Library is here to help you with your academic research needs and services available include:

  • In-person assistance for your academic needs including assignments, research, and class projects from 9:30am-5:00pm Monday - Thursday, and 9:30am – 2:00pm on Friday. In-depth assistance is available by appointment.
