Spring is a unique time in academia—the rush to complete classes, assignments, for some it’s time to move back home or off campus. For others it can be understood to be a time of closure—or a new beginning. It is the time of “Commencement.” Commencement is usually a formal ceremony during which individuals are recognized for the completion of an academic program and symbolized by receiving a diploma. But is a diploma all there is to a college degree? Time at College is a time like no other. Regardless of when, how or where you attend, it is unique in that opportunities, individuals and events are brought to campus for you to experience.
