How does encryption affect the way I use this computer?
Laptops require a network username, password and domain to login.
First Time Login
This is an IT Security requirement.
You must use an on-campus wired network connection to log onto the laptop using your
network username, password and domain.
If you do not complete the above steps, you will not be able to use the laptop.
Subsequent Logins

Can I remote into UConn Health?
Yes. The laptops use Always On VPN (AOVPN) to connect to the UConn Health network when off campus.
See the laptop instructions for further details.

When the PC is returned to the Library any profiles will be deleted. Any changes made
to the machine will be reversed. It is critical to save documents to other media prior to
returning the laptop.
Can I install software on this PC?
Your UConn Health network username will give you standard user rights on the laptop,
not administrator rights. You will not have the ability to install hardware and software that
requires administrator rights.
You should test the laptop prior to any event, presentation, etc. to be sure that all necessary
hardware and software is installed and working as needed.
Can I email from this PC?
You may view or send email through internet email access.
The logon location for e-mail is: https://itowa.uchc.edu/.
Note: https://itowa.uchc.edu/ may not be accessible from the UConnHealth-Guest wireless
network, but it should be accessible from UConnHealth-SECURE.
Can I print from this PC?
Yes, if you are connected to the network at the Health Center you may print from the
Library’s public color and black & white printers. The standard UnipriNT charges will
apply if you choose to print to these printers.
Can I save to a USB drive (or other media) or the hard drive?
Yes. The profile on the laptops will be deleted when returned to the Library so save
documents to other media before returning the laptop.
Can I do word processing on the PC?
Yes. Microsoft Office 2016 32-bit is installed on the laptop. This includes Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, etc.
Are the programs on the PC compatible with my data?
All laptops are running Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit and Microsoft Office 2016 32-bit.
