Selected Library Databases

  • Research Database Locator
    The University of Connecticut subscribes to over 240 Web-Based, commercially-produced research and citation databases. Most of these resources are limited to the University of Connecticut community.
  • ABI/Inform with Fulltext
    An abstracting and fulltext business database with a management focus. Covers 1000+ business and economics journals and is international in scope. Not all articles are full-text.
  • Academic Search Premier
    This full-text, multidisciplinary magazine & journal database provides the full text of over 4,500 journals and magazines, and indexes a total of more than 8,000 titles in all disciplines.
  • CCH Internet Tax Research Network
    The tax database includes Tax News Direct which provides recent tax news and documents; the Federal Library 1978+; and State Library 1994+; Financial & Estate Library; and the International Library. These libraries contain reporters, codes, guides, cases, legislation, regulations and tax rates.
  • CenStats: U.S. Census Bureau
    Demographic, business and trade statistics.
  • China Data
    Provides data on China's macroeconomy, industries, imports and exports.
  • D & B Million Dollar Database
    Provides directory information on over 1,000,000 U.S. public and private businesses with sales greater than $1 million or employees total greater than 20.
  • Dissertation Abstracts
    Provides citations and abstracts for doctoral dissertations and master's theses completed at colleges and universities worldwide from 1861 to the present. Lengthy abstracts are included for dissertations beginning with July 1980 and for master's theses since 1988.
  • Factiva
    This academic version of the commercial product provides full text searching for 4600+ general and business publications. Public company and securities information is also included.
  • Global Insight
    This database contains many leading macroeconomic indicators for the United States of America. Some of the statistics provided are: Money Supply, Interest Rates, Stocks; Construction & Ho; Industry Production, Capacity, Labour; Population Counts and Estimates and Foreign Trade and Interest Rates.
  • Econlit
    Produced by the American Economic Association, this indexing service includes citations with abstracts from the Journal of Economic Literature and the Index of Economic Articles in Journals and Collective Volumes.
  • Global Development Finance
    provides financial data on 136 developing countries for indicators including long-term debt, public and publicly guaranteed debt, private nonguaranteed debt, official creditors, and private creditors
  • Health & Wellness Resource Center - Academic
    Index to magazines and journals in all fields of medicine, with selected full text, 1994+
  • InfoTrac
    An abstracting and fulltext service which provides indexing to 1550 general interest journals.
  • Lexis/Nexis News
    With links to LexisNexis Legal and LexisNexis Business. Offers the full-text of magazine articles, journal articles, business reports, medical information and case law.
  • MD Consult
    Provides electronic access to 30+ medical texts, articles from 40+ clinical journals, practice guidelines, drug information, 2,500 patient education handouts, CME, and daily medical updates customized to your speciality. A signup by UConn patrons is required to use the database
  • NBER Working Papers
    The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) Working Papers 1994- are aimed at professional economists. The UConn Libraries subscribe to the electronic papers only and others can be ordered through the liaison librarian. The subject areas covered are corporate finance, economic fluctuations and growth, economics of the elderly, health and health care, industrial organization, international finance and macroeconomics, international trade and investment, labor studies, monetary economics, productivity and technological change, stocks, bonds, and foreign currency, and taxation.
  • SourceOECD
    SourceOECD is the publications portal of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. When complete, it will comprise 19 Studies by Themes, contain all OECD monographs and reports; 19 periodicals ; some reference titles ; and the OECD statistical databases .
  • Statistical Universe
    Statistical Universe provides the most comprehensive access to statistical data from federal government sources, state and private-sector publications, and international governmental and non-governmental organizations on the Web.
  • Stat-USA
    From the U.S. Department of Commerce, this database includes economic and trade data from the National Trade Data Bank (NTDB), Economic Bulletin Board, Global Business Procurement Opportunities (Globus), and Bureau of Economic Analysis Economic Information.
  • Tablebase
    Table base provides text and tabular information such as: market share, market size, capacity, production, imports, exports, sales, product and brand rankings, forecasts, healthcare statistics and demographics
  • Thomson Research
    is a blending of two databases of large public U.S.(Disclosure SEC) and International(Worldscope) companies. Full text annual reports(1997+) and all the SEC (10K, 8Q. Edgar documents, etc.) filings (1994+) for these companies are included. Spreadsheet ready financials from the 10Ks(1996+), 10Qs (1996+) and ten year annual history files for the 12,000+ stock exchange companies are also available.
  • Web of Science
    This citation database 1994 to the present includes the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), and the Arts and Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI). For older years in electronic form, the University of Connecticut Libraries has CD-Roms which cover SCI 1986-1999 (Storrs), SCI 1989-1997 (Avery Point) and SSCI 1992-1999 (Storrs). To go further back with the print collections, use the SCI 1964-1991 Ref. Q1 .S45,(Storrs), SCI 1985-1988, Z7401 .365 (Avery Point), SSCI 1966-1991 Ref. H1 .S63 (Storrs) and A&HCI 1977-1992 Ref. Z5937 .A795 (Storrs).
  • WDI (World Development Indicators)
    provides statistics on the economies of over 200 developing countries, including time series data on agriculture, manufacturing, health indicators, education, natural resources, and foreign investment.
  • World Marketing Data and Statistics (WOMDAS)
    It includes country-level data on demographic, economic, and other marketing indicators.
  • WRDS (Wharton Data Research Service)
    WRDS is a data management service which enables users to access databases via a web-based interface or via a Unix server. Data on the Unix server is generally available both in binary format and in SAS format. Includes 24/7 help. Sign up for an account on the WRDS site.

    From the International Monetary Fund's Statistics Department, the IFS provides time series data covering 26,000 economic concepts back to 1948. It includes all the data found in the IFS print version.

    This gateway provides a number of database. WorldCat locates books and other materials in libraries worldwide. Books in Print indexes current books which are published or distributed in the United States.
  • UCONN Libraries Catalog: HOMER
    UCAT is the UConn Libraries electronic catalog of books, periodicals and other material held by the Libraries. JREF is an index to general interest journals with the UConn Library including holdings and locations for journals owned by the University Libraries.
  • Request for Purchase Form
    Use this form to suggest titles to be added to the Libraries' collections.
  • Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loan Service
    Available only to members of the UConn Storrs community.
  • Electronic Journal Locator
    The University of Connecticut Libraries purchases access to over 10,000 journals, and in full text, through various databases and commercial journal providers.
  • Journal Table of Contents/Current Awareness Service:
    A citation database for 17,000 multidisciplinary journals. The REVEAL feature provides a user with the ability to set up a search profile and receive the citation results every week on email. Available to University of Connecticut faculty, staff and students.
