Fund for Excellence in Archives and Special Collections

A PROJECT OF THE FUND FOR UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES

At the heart of the UConn Libraries lies our Archives & Special Collections. Formally established in 1965, the internationally known collections reflect a broad spectrum of human thought and activity in a variety of forms, from a 15th century stitched manuscript to 21st century video on subjects ranging from the records of a local historical society to international political movements. Gifts to the fund enable us to purchase materials to supplement those that are donated, make them available to researchers both in Storrs and around the world, design outreach programs that encourage the use of primary resources, and to preserve them for future generations.

Internationally recognized in the field of children’s literature, the collection includes more than 44,000 children’s books as well as the manuscripts from over 125 authors and illustrators. Gifts to the fund enable us to purchase materials to supplement those that are donated, make them available to researchers both in Storrs and around the world, design outreach programs that encourage the use of primary resources, and to preserve them for future generations.
