Class of 1960 50th Anniversary Class Gift Campaign
Dear Classmates:It’s hard to believe that nearly 50 years have passed since we graduated from the University of Connecticut. Since 1960, UConn has continued to grow and advance to the top ranks of public research universities in the nation and now ranks 26 according to the latest U.S. News and World Report survey. Year in and year out, alumni support helps keep our alma mater the number one public university in New England. It has been rewarding to be part of the University’s evolution.
Reaching this significant anniversary is cause for celebration. While it is not possible for everyone to return for the reunion, it ispossible and important for everyone to play a role in commemorating our time at UConn. Each year, the 50th Reunion class commemorates its legacy through a gift to UConn. This ensures that UConn is prepared for future generations and has the financial flexibility to provide resources and scholarships to a wide range of students.
Upholding UConn tradition, the Class of 1960 will support two initiatives:
The 50th Reunion Alumni Scholarship Fund is the first scholarship of its kind to provide monetary support for all UConn undergraduate and graduate students on both a need- and merit-basis.
The Class of 1960 Video Center Fund will revitalize space in the Homer Babbidge Library, and enable both individual students and small groups to view the latest video presentations on state-of-the-art electronic equipment.
During Alumni Weekend, June 4 - 5, 2010, we will celebrate the 50th reunion of the Class of 1960 and would love for you to be part of the festivities. Reconnect with fellow UConn alumni and friends in Storrs, where you will have the chance to participate in a historical bus tour of campus designed specifically for the Class of 1960 along with an exciting schedule of family friendly activities, feature presentations and plenty of UConn traditions for all generations of Huskies. More information on the weekend can be found at by calling 860-486-2240 or at www.uconnalumni.com/alumniweekend.
We look forward to sharing in the reunion spirit with you and our fellow classmates. Let’s make 2010 a year to remember. Please come celebrate our reunion and participate in the class gift Give Now.
Sincerely,
The Class of 1960 Reunion Planning Committee
