Assessment Tools:

Developed by Dr. Estela Mara Bensimon at the Center for Urban Education, University of Southern California, the Equity Scorecard, is designed to foster institutional change in higher education. It seeks to foster educational excellence through closing the achievement gap for historically underrepresented students.

The full name of this project, which is funded by the James Irvine Foundation, is "Designing and Implementing a Diversity Scorecard to Improve Institutional Effectiveness for Under served Minority Students." This project is a partnership of post-secondary institutions in California which seeks to establish indicators and scales that enable decision-makers and others to assess institutional effectiveness and progress on improving access, retention, institutional receptivity, and excellence for under served minority group students. The Stats at a Glance page includes useful national data on diversity among K-12, undergraduate, and graduate students and also among faculty.
